Our Model AAA marries a box tube frame and fiberglass Model A body with a Tesla Model 3/Y large drive unit. The 18.4kWh battery pack comes from a Chevy Volt. Even after cutting the pack into 3 separate modules for mounting, we're still able to use a custom controller to interface with the factory BMS and contactors.
The Model AAA front end is all traditional hot rod Ford, with transverse leaf springs and Vega steering. The rear end is all Tesla with the exception of using coil overs instead of the factory struts. We have disc brakes in all 4 corners and even managed to use the Tesla parking brake!
While we don't know the final weight, I expect the power to weight ratio to be a lot of fun. This was the first project where we did our own body work, and it might also be the last! It was a lot of sanding, but we're very happy with the results. The interior is still barebones, but it drives!
